Watchers

First of all I'm, glad to post a new journal because I've actually had a few recent notes asking how G-FEST was, when in fact my last journal was from right before I went -- last July! So this should hide that...

Anyway, sometime over a month ago, I had a bit of a conversation (if you could call it that) via Note on DA, with another expansion artist who has come to dislike me quite a bit. They made some accusations, but abruptly claimed they were blocking me from their account, thus I can't post comments or even respond by note to further defend myself. As a courtesy I will not mention who this person is. While the conversation was a bit old, it's been bothering me, and I feel I must post to defend myself. Especially considering, judging from what they said, this is apparently the belief of some other people.

First of all, I do not deny I draw a hell of a lot of lolicon art. Show me proof my art is hurting anyone in any way and I will stop. And quite frankly my stuff is tame in comparison to a lot of the more extreme stuff; Of course I'm alluding to hentai, I've seen stuff (art/drawings) that even have made me squirm (but tolerate, because that's the type of person I am).

Anyway, onto the issue at hand. I will respond to each claim individually.

"When a man draws almost exclusively fat children"
As stated above, guilty as charged. I do ART, drawings and whatnot of fictional characters. I am attracted to particular animation styles, and cute characters. Admittedly a lot of "older" fictional characters just don't do it for me. But I have no issue drawing them, as there ar some I like, and I'm always taking commissions of pretty much anything.

"has a fat kid OC"
Not entirely true. Puyo was conceived to be the mascot of my site, Animexpansion. I would not have intentionally created a character who was excessively young, as this would alienate some people. I've never officially established her age, as well as a number of other details, as of yet, however I have always generally assumed she's around 16 or so.

"a website featuring animated fat/stuffed kids"
That depends entirely on what type of art the artists on my site create.

"and from what I hear is "waiting for the right time to strike"
This, I found to be the most concerning accusation, for obvious reasons. I have never stated, even in jest, to be planning on, or even wanting to "strike". Admittedly, around a few good friends I've joking made some comments parodying what some people think of me, but that's it. I don't understand where this idea came from, aside from sure speculation.

"you could be like Jerry Sandusky, starring out at a elementary school from your back deck, drooling at recess time as the kids play."
Another infuriating comment, as I find what Sandusky did to be disgusting and absolutely reprehensible. I was one of the people who thought his defenders were absolute idiots.

It's also worth noting that the person making all of these claims has also done a number of underaged characters depicted for sexual intent.

Anyway, I just wanted to get that out there. If you have a mind to, please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

There is alot to not like about your art style. I tried to like it, but I can't. When I look up my daily dose of weight gain and inflation and see about 5+ of your work. Which is annoying because I just cannot enjoy your art. All you art looks practically the same, all clones. Just different clothes. Like you may have Dawn, then make Misty by putting Misty clothes on your already fat Dawn. Sure, there are a few unique works, namely your few belly squishings, but that's about it. The bodies are too fucking simple, as the characters don't even look much like who they're supposed to be. The eyes are annoyingly the same and facial expressions are the almost exact same thing from deviation to deviation. Same stuff. Same creepy eyes, same O shaped mouth, same blush, nothing new or interesting that would make me want to Watch you and actually look forward to seeing some of your new art. Usually same poses involving standing, plain, drab backgrounds, a caption would at least be nice! Look at all the other inflation artist, namely PewPewPow (formerly masterp123) and MetalForever. They don't seem to be getting the same hate comments and messages that you seem to be getting. Well maybe the haters don't like your art style, and I'm going to be honest - your art style is ugly, creepy, and bland. Everything was so fucking similar, looking through your gallery was like looking through a genetic cloning lab. I don't even find it cute. Look at PewPewPow. He rarely has backgrounds in his art, if you call multiple colors backgrounds. But his stuff is fresh, new, interesting. One of his works has a girl weighted down to the floor by her massive belly, staring at it with anxiety. Another has a girl holding some food, gut hanging out, embarrassed at her weight. In your gallery, all I see is a horror show of fat girls staring at me creepily. Not good. Metalforever also keeps things mixed, and both MetalForever and PewPewPow have an art style which is very pleasing to the eye. PewPewPow uses light colors and sketchy lines to give that soft look, while MetalForever makes good use of shading and onomatopoeia to add exaggeration. No hate is going their way, because their art is actually enjoyable. Learn from these two. :)

Okay. I was aware of all of this. The way I usually draw is a standard "here is this character, but fat", or then "here's a BE version". I like to draw very uniformly, smooth lines the best I can manage them, thus why I work in Flash. Yes, most of my drawings are done very similarly, not intentionally, but because I have a pattern to how I draw them. I can guarantee you 99% of my drawings start with drawing the bangs and end with drawing either the eyes or cheek blush (then ground shadow and signature). I will work on this. I will try new things and get feedback. But do not tell me I can learn anything from Metalforever, unless it's how to be an asshole.

Ah, I see. I'm assuming you don't like Metalforever, have you had a dispute in the past?

I MYSELF had no problem with HIM. Let's just say he's someone I recently alluded to in my DA journal.

No offence, but compared to your older styles I think the way you draw anime faces is starting to stumble into the Uncanny Valley...
